Billabong's Team gets Earthy
Celebrate Earth Day with green living tips from Billabong Women’s Surf and Snow Teams.
In honor of Earth Day we asked the Billabong Snow and Surf Team to share what they do to live a greener life, year round.
Courtney Conlogue: "Everyday is Earth Day. Whether you spend your day on the land or in the sea the footprint you leave is the one that will be remembered tomorrow. Have an awareness and influence to make tomorrow a better place. Reusable water bottles, take the trash you bring, cycle when you can, plant plants and make tomorrow better than today."
Helen Schettini: "Our hotel in Haines, Alaska has metallic water so instead of purchasing bottled water, we've sourced out a natural spring where we refill a reusable container. This brings us closer to the earth and makes us appreciate all we are surrounded by."
Lauren Hill: "The top 15 largest shipping tankers pollute as much noxious gas, particulate matter and soot into the atmosphere as ALL of the cars on the planet! To minimize my contribution to fueling these tankers, I like to purchase locally whenever possible, especially when it comes to food. Organic, locally grown food is better for us and for the planet because it doesn't require long haul shipping (so it's fresher!) and it doesn't require the use of pesticides which can wash into our waterways and contaminate marine ecosystems."
Taylor Godber: "A vegetarian diet to: decrease CO2 emissions, methane emissions, & nitrous oxide emissions, lower rainforest deforestation that is caused from feeding cattle, lower soil erosion, eliminate the use of 2400 gallons of water per pound of meat, and support proper treatment of animals."
Alex Duckworth: "My latest environmental contribution has been recycling my old car, and having my bike as my main MOT, for as long as feasibly possibly."
Laura Enever: "I do my part my part by buying organic local produce where ever I go then refilling the glass bottles or reusing them as a glass or jar at home."
Lindsay Perry: "I try to make changes by using beach bags as recyclable grocery totes, riding my bike whenever possible & using reusable water bottles instead of plastic."
Frankie Harrer: "I do my part by getting fresh organic produce from local farmers!"
Bellatreas Kenworthy: "I do my part in helping the earth by always drinking from my mobot water bottle and growing a lot of my own organic vegetables and fruit."
Jenna Blasman: "I like to get lost in the woods and ditch all forms of technology on Earth Day"
Moana Jones: "I do my part in helping the environment by using my hydro instead of plastic bottles."
Felicity Palmateer: "Doing my part for the earth by eating home grown organic veggies and organic cold pressed green juices!"
