Hey guys! Holly here. Summer intern extraordinaire for Billabong Womens ;) My full time gig is a student at UCLA but my hometown of Oceanside, California is where my heart is. I had the opportunity to cruise around and share my favorite spots with you in North County!
Every Thursday morning in downtown Oceanside there's the Farmers Market on Main Street. It opens at 9AM and goes until 1PM. There is always fresh, local, organic produce and beautiful bouquets of flowers. I love coming here because it is a surprise to see what new vendors are there each week. Shopping here is great way to support the local businesses in Oceanside, since we are a tight-knit community.
After strolling through the Farmer's Market, I make my way down PCH to South O. This area is an absolute gem that retains the eclectic character of the surf and skate culture. O-side locals are constantly transforming it and creating shops and restaurants for everyone to gather. I head into my favorite café an order an iced lavender latte at Revolution Roasters.
This café has a clean-minimalistic design, which is perfect to focus on work. After getting my daily dose of caffeine, I can't help but walk next door to thrift shop at Captain's Helm. I could spend all day in here looking through the vintage goods. It's not uncommon to find designer goods here for men and women. For the most part everything is second-hand, but you can find brand new clothing and accessories from local San Diego brands.
My hours of shopping come to an end and I've worked up an appetite. It is a no-brainer for me to grab lunch at Local Tap House
, which is hands down the BEST restaurant in Oceanside. It is a farm-to-table eatery, where the produce is sourced from the organic Cyclops Farm. I'm not a vegetarian by any means, but I can't resist eating the flavorful House-Made Quinoa Burger and 'Beets by Chef' Salad. I dare you to take a look at the menu because it is far from 'normal'. Of course, a day in San Diego isn't complete for me without tanning at the beach. I prefer to go to Cassidy Street beach. It's more secluded and takes you away from the noise of the crowds.
My last stop of the day consists of meeting up with my best friend for a drink at Campfire
in Carlsbad. This restaurant offers a rustic-camp feeling in a beach city, which is rare and fun. Not to mention they make amazing craft cocktails. My go-to drink is the refreshing, crisp 'Aloe Black', which is for a hot summer day. Clearly, I have a thing for beets, which I didn't know until now. But another must try is the unique 'Roasted Beets' drink. Not only are these drinks tasty, but the colors are bright and B O L D.
Well my tour of Oceanside and Carlsbad is over. I hope you find yourself having a taste of my hometown!
