Billabong Pipe Masters - Day Two
A whole lot of action went down today at the Billabong Pipe Masters. There were upsets like Ryan Callinan taking down Gabriel Medina and Kanoa Igarashi ousting Julian Wilson and many more. The action was everywhere, and today some people ended their 2016 World Tour season while others kept the ball rolling.
The waves were in the 3-5 foot Hawaiian range with a few deep barrels. Kelly Slater had an excellent performance to cap off the day, driving through a few deep Backdoor barrels. Italo Ferreira also had arguably the move of the day with a massive rodeo flip that had the crowd screaming with approval. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to squeak him through to round 4, but we're pretty sure he's still ahead in the running for Performance of the Winter on the North Shore.
Tomorrow we'll wake to see what Mother Nature brings us and we just may crown a Billabong Pipe Master. Stay tuned at worldsurfleague.com.
