Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 9 October, 2008 : - - Hyuga, Miyazaki - The ASP WQS 2 STAR event" Hyuga Pro presented by ASAHI” event day 2 enjoyed another sunny summer day at Oguragahama beach today. 2 to 3 feet condition waves fanned by offshore Breeze made brilliant waves for the day. The event got right into action with the round of 32 of WQS action.

The top seeded surfers surfed the first time in the event it was high battle by Teppei Tajima (JPN) vs. Hideyoshi Tanaka (JPN) as well as Takayuki Wakita (JPN) and Shu Hagiwara (JPN). Tajima scores an excellent 8.5 and leads the heat. Tanaka always fought back thru the heat. But Tajima fights back with a 5 point and keeps the lead. In heat 5 Izuki Tanaka (JPN) scores a high 7.5 in the early time of heat and backs it up with a 6.75 to victor.

Jason Shibata (HAW) scores high with an excellent 8.25 and a back up of 7.50 and moves to the round of 16 actions for tomorrow. Shibata also fought hard in the LQS event and also moves to action for tomorrow.

Today the Miyazaki locals fought hard and many make it to tomorrow’s action. In the WQS action Rikiya Kitada, Yasuaki Higashikawa and Jun Shiba all made final minute attack to strike to victory. Also in the LQS action Shohei Akimoto, Yasuaki Higashikawa, Masahiro Toda and Tatsuo Fujii fought also hard to the round of 16 actions for tomorrow. Fujii scores a 8.75 to take honor of highest Wave score of the day. 

Former 2004 world longboard champion runner up as well as event seed no.1 Kekoa Uemura (HAW) makes first appearance to event in the round of 32 and makes it to tomorrow’s action. Event organizers plan to run round of 16 as well as quarter finals tomorrow. Exhibition event “Mitasuya Cider Team Challenge” is also on schedule for tomorrow. 

First call tomorrow morning is 7:30 with a potential 8AM start.
