Rob Kelley Takes Sweetwater Pro AM Surf Fest
Decorated pro Rob Kelly is a hard working guy all year round, but especially during a hot New Jersey summer. Rob recently got on the road for the start of the Eastern pro surf series and came out swinging. Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina was the spot for the Sweetwater Pro-Am Surf Fest and that's where Rob began his campaign.
In sluggish 2-3 foot surf Rob dismantled a field of seasoned pros and even WQS star Michael Dunphy in the final to get his first Sweetwater win. Chaired up the beach by friends, Rob was ecstatic to take the win and is looking forward to the rest of the East Coast tour.
“I’m looking forward to the next two weeks down here, and I’m really excited to cap off the summer competing at home in Jersey and then New York. It looks like the Atlantic is starting to stir up a little, so I’m hoping there’s some storm surf on tap for at least one of the events.”
Good luck to Rob and the rest of the team in Virginia Beach this week.
